Saturday Afternoon Greedy – Captain’s Report

Written by admin on September 23, 2009 – 2:37 pm

Saturday 19 September

Unlike my organisation of the following day (Ladies v Men) this was a thoroughly well organised and efficiently run “greedy” and my second invitation to join and play with an excellent group of members who play on Saturday.

Young Charlie Reed never ceases to amaze me and I fully intend to strive to be not only as fit and able he is at 80 plus, but also just as good looking and humorous. With great respect and a little tongue in cheek he manages to keep “his boys” in check, with a little chastisement (much better word on the WEB than B——–g!) and a lot of comedy.

A day none the less (one of three annual comps) that is taken very seriously, and a hard fought battle ensued with tough competition for the top spot. Not only are you playing for the glory of the day, but also to maintain those oh! so important averages for the year end major trophy. Read more »

Ladies Knockout Finals

Written by admin on September 23, 2009 – 10:13 am

Two finals of the Ladies Knock-out Competitions were held last Wednesday 16th September.

The first was the Scratch Knock-out contested by Sheree Wilde and Arlene Castle. It was a thrilling encounter and was nip and tuck all the way with Sheree sinking a putt on the 18th green to square the match.

Quite a few ladies came to watch and give support to both players so we all set off down the 19th, then the 20th and finally the 21st hole with Sheree again sinking a vital putt to win the match.

The second final was the Handicap Knock-out between Chris Goss and Pat Scott. Again it was well supported and quite a few of those who attended in the morning stayed on to watch.

After a fiercely contested match it ended with Chris winning on the 17th green.

Well done to Sheree and Chris on their wins and to Arlene and Pat for making the finals.

Thanks to all those who turned up to give support it was much appreciated.

Eileen Ogilvie

Lady Captain
