Father Christmas At Camberley Heath Golf Club
Written by admin on December 22, 2009 – 6:50 pm
I know you will find this hard to believe but last Sunday week Father Christmas paid a visit to CHGC to meet all the members’ children.
The day started for the kiddies with party food followed by the entertainer and at about 6pm Father Christmas crash landed his reindeer and sledge on the 18th Tee, and while the reindeer munched grass and had a rest, Craig whizzed out and collected Father Christmas to bring him back to the clubhouse to meet the kiddies.
However on route it was obvious that Craig had failed his orienteering Boy Scout badge because he got FC lost on route from the 18th tee to the club house and the poor kiddies almost didn’t get to see him, however FC saved the day and guided him safely to the club house front door.
FC had special dispensation to drive into the lobby (and we all know what happens if you do that in a buggy!!) and all the kiddies were screaming for FC to give out the Presy’s.
FC went upstairs to the restaurant and sat with the kiddies giving out Presy’s and good cheer.
Having completed this task successfully FC said goodbye and rushed of to do the rest of world.
Now wasn’t that a lovely story??

Results Camberley Heath Quiz Night
Written by admin on December 22, 2009 – 5:29 pm17th December 2009
9 teams braved ice and snow to attend the final quiz night of the year and what a night. The general consensus seemed to be best quiz night ever with free mince pies and a great selection of really good food during the half time interval. The curry and popodums in particular were so good that many went for seconds and the chef was obliged to quickly produce additional rations.
As ever, pandaemonium was kept to a minimum under the masterful control of the quiz-master Wally Walton, although a number of teams did their best to test his mettle. Wally’s able assistant, Bob Rickwood, tried hard to to make the evening controversial with poor arithmetic on the scoring but Wally’s keen eye soon spotted the errors and corrected them before the ever enthusiastic player could form a lynch mob. Many thanks to those who helped Wally identify establish correct scoring.
The overall scoring was very close and resulted in a playoff for second and third place. The deciding question was “how many miles of motorway are there in the UK” (2241) “Bah Humbug” team entered an initial bid of 2000 miles which they changed to 10,000 miles allowing second place to go to “The Clots” with an answer of 7500 miles.
Winning team Camberley Tinselaratti - Tony and Lorna Russel, Simon and Alison Lapthorn, Stephen and Rosemary Martin.
2nd Place The Clots - Colin and Janet Waite, Alan Smith, Kevin Jones, Kevin Hinge, Ben Hinge
3rd Place Bah Humbug - Derek and hazel Jenkins, Phil and Elain Park, Phil Raven, Jose Kellenberger
Congratulations to all.
Finally we would like to wish all quiz player a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Seniors Christmas Fayre

On behalf of the Seniors, Treasurer Bill Poulton presented Sue with a bouquet of flowers as a token of their appreciation for her help over the years.
Seniors Xmas Fayre
On Wednesday the 9th December 32 Seniors gathered at the Club to complete a grueling 14 holes of golf prior to partaking of their Xmas Fayre lunch accompanied by their good ladies. After the recent spell of bad weather, the dull overcast day was somewhat of a relief to this hardy band of intrepid golfers, and apart from the odd shout of “You are losing ground” ( heard going down the 3rd ), the morning was a great success with everyone returning to the Clubhouse safe and sound.
Pre lunch drinks was a very civilised affair with no rowdyism (as to be expected from mature gentlemen golfers). Lunch followed a similar pattern with everyone enjoying the usual superb cuisine. With a past Captain marshalling the 7 Table Captains like a well rehearsed flock, he thus ensured that the ravenous diners were fed in a timely and orderly manner. Read more »

A list of male members who have returned less than three qualifying scores during 2009, has been published on the notice board in the Men’s changing room.
